home loans - Life Assurance
Under current government legislation (Consumer Credit Act, 1995) a lending institution must ensure that you have life cover before they can give you a loan for a private family home. However, if you are aged over 50 or have had special terms placed on you, you may not have to have life cover.
We will help choose a policy that best suit your needs. You have the option of a stand alone life assurance policy, or a combined life assurance and serious illness protection policy to ensure that your mortgage is paid off in the event of your death or if you suffer a serious illness or disabling condition or if you become terminally ill.
In the case of joint borrowers, both parties should be covered. Payment is made once only on the first claim. All cover on the second life and any children's cover then ceases.
