If
you are self-employed or do not have any disability
cover through your work, PHI will pay you a weekly
income if you are unable to work due to an accident
or illness.
The
cover usually comes into place after a deferred
period of 13, 26 or 52 weeks.
Tax
relief is allowed on premiums paid for PHI and the
income received in the event of someone drawing
on the policy is taxable.
The
maximum benefit you can receive is up to 75% of
your gross income, the reason being to provide an
incentive to return to work.
